FAQ

What is required to book a session?

A non-refundable creative fee (varies by on type of session) is required at time of booking to secure your session date and time on my calendar. Your session is not considered reserved until booking is complete and fee is paid.

Due to my limited availability, I allow up to 48 hours from time of receipt of your booking link to complete and submit payment. If not completed within this time frame, your time and date will be released and booking inquiry considered closed.

What is included in the Creative Fee?

This fee covers my time for all pre-session planning, communication, client closet access and wardrobe styling, all preparation behind the scenes along with the session itself and preparation of your final gallery. This fee also secures your specific date and time on my calendar making it no longer available to other clients and therefore, is non-refundable.

All digital image collections are purchased after your session so you can choose the one that best fits your budget.

What happens if it rains?

All outdoor sessions are, naturally, weather permitting. If the weather is not cooperative and we have to cancel, we will find a date to reschedule that works for everyone. I monitor the weather forecast very closely for upcoming sessions. Because the forecasts are often wrong or weather can pass, I make the final call 4 hours prior on the day of the session. I will keep in contact with you about it that week if the weather is not looking favorable but you should always plan for the session to go on as scheduled unless you hear otherwise.

If, in the opinion of the photographer, even in the absence of rain, other adverse conditions (high winds, heavy cloud cover, etc) prevent the creation of a portrait meeting the artistic standards of Twenty-Three Photography, photographer may elect to use an alternate location or reschedule.

What happens if we have to cancel due to illness?

Life happens. I know that illness and unexpected events come up. Please give me as much notice as possible if there is a need to reschedule. We will work together to find a time that works for both our schedules.

For full sessions, if you choose to cancel and not immediately reschedule for the current session, the creative fee can be transferred to a future session good for 6 months from your original session date.

For mini sessions, due to the nature of the limited theme or location, no refunds will be given. Any fees paid can be transferred to a future session (mini or full) good for 6 months.

What time do the sessions take place?

All of my outdoor full, private sessions are scheduled 1 - 2 hours prior to sunset to get the most beautiful and flattering light.

Newborn lifestyle sessions are scheduled between 10-11 am on Saturdays and limited weekdays.

In-Home family sessions are scheduled on Saturdays between 10 am - 1 pm and limited weekdays.

Studio Session times vary depending on type of session but typically on Saturdays between 10 am and noon.

Do I have to order prints through you?

You are welcome to print your images and order products through the store front within your gallery but it is not required. Through your gallery shop, you will receive professional quality prints and products at a great price. If you choose to print your images outside of your gallery, I cannot guarantee print quality or color.

What should we wear?

Wardrobe can really make or break the look of your images. I have a Style Guide you will receive once you have booked your session. It will give you all the tips and tricks to begin selecting your wardrobe. I also provide wardrobe styling for full, private sessions as part of the creative fee to help bring your wardrobe together to give your gallery a polished and professional look.

My photography style . . .

In one word: Connection. There will be a handful of ‘everyone look here at the camera’ but most of my galleries are filled with images capturing more natural and genuine interactions. I will spend a majority of your session telling you to look at anyone BUT me. Images of everyone looking at the camera do not bring out emotion. Instead I want to capture the joy in your face when you are smiling or laughing at your children; the love in your eyes when looking at your spouse; the happiness of being snuggled up with the people you love most in this world. I want you to remember exactly how you felt in that moment every time you look back at your images.

What kind of gear do you use?

I currently shoot with two camera bodies: Nikon Z6ii and Nikon D610 with varying lenses depending on the type of session.
